Terms & Conditions

SAFETY FIRST
BRAY CRANING Ltd is a safety conscious company and recognises the fact that marinas and boatyards are potentially hazardous environments.  Owners and their guests (Owner’s party) are required to comply with BRAY CRANING REGULATIONS available from the TBS Bray office.  There are also several safety points that we would like to bring to your attention.
 
Terms & Conditions
  1. A minimum charge of 7.6m (25ft) applies to all craning services. A maximum length of 40ft applies to all vessels requiring storage ashore.  A maximum weight of 8 tonnes applies to all craning services.
  2. Bray Craning Ltd do not operate lifting services at weekends or bank holidays.
  3. Bray Craning Ltd cannot guarantee your required lifting date, especially when booking at short notice.  We are unable to specify exact lifting times for any booking.  Bray Craning Ltd will try to accommodate your lifting requirements however bookings are subject to change by the Company for reasons outside of their control.
  4. If 7 days’ notice of cancellation is given : 100% of fees will be refunded.  If more than 48hrs notice but less than 7 days’ notice is given : 50% of fees will be refunded.  Less than 48 hrs notice is given : No refund is payable.
  5. Crane bookings are not confirmed until payment has been received in full.
  6. Bray Craning Ltd cannot be held responsible for any personal effects or equipment left on board any vessel during craning operations and storage. Bray Craning Ltd advises you remove all valuables and portable equipment prior to craning. Please ensure all fragile items are securely stowed.  Bray Craning Ltd cannot be held responsible for any breakages.
  7. Bray Craning Ltd cannot accept liability for any damage caused when handling craft or when stored / moored on the Company Premises, except where it can be demonstrated that the Company has been negligent. You are responsible for making the crane driver aware of any specific lifting or chocking requirements prior to the lift. Vessels stored ashore on chocks or cradles may only be moved by the Company or have such chocks, block, cradles or other supports moved or adjusted by the Company.
  8. All Pressure Washing must be carried out by marina staff in the designated crane / wash-down area.  Pressure washers are not permitted to be used on the hardstanding under any circumstances.
  9. Bray Craning Ltd reserves the right to refuse to lift any vessel they feel would be unsafe or not suitable for the crane, hardstanding or marina based on – but not limited to – dimensions, construction material(s) or conditions of the vessel.
  10. Bray Craning Ltd do not lift wooden vessels.
  11. All vessels must have suitable insurance to cover the craning and storage ashore of the vessel.
  12. Ladders to climb aboard the vessel whilst ashore must be provided by yourself. The top of ladders should be secured to the vessel when climbing.
  13. No items must be thrown from the vessel, even in the instance where waste receptacles are below.
  14. No work that will cause noise should take place between the hours of 8pm and 8am.
  15. Under no circumstances are persons allowed to sleep on board vessels whilst they are stored ashore.
  16. All gas and fuel tank work should be undertaken by professionals. If you engage an outside contractor, they must report to the marina office to register and provide the appropriate insurance documents.  A contractor’s fee is applicable.
  17. Children are not permitted to play on the hardstanding. All children must be supervised at all times. Dogs must always be kept on a lead and should not cause a distraction, nuisance to other customers.
  18. Vehicles are not permitted to be parked on the hardstanding. The Owner must use the car park provided. Trolleys are available for transporting tools etc.  All vehicles must display a Marine Development’s car parking sticker which are available from the Marina office.
  19. All rubbish must be removed from site to be disposed of and must never be left under the vessel as this will obstruct any movement of your boat and create a fire / Health & Safety risk.
  20. Bray Craning Ltd will not launch any vessel to water until the area of hardstanding surrounding the vessel has been left clean and tidy and all waste has been removed from site.
  21. Shot / slurry blasting must not be carried out by boat owners or outside contractors without first gaining the written consent from the Marina office.
  22. Vessels are permitted to remain ashore for a maximum of six months. Any vessels that remain ashore after this period will incur a 50% surcharge of the hardstanding fee.
  23. The Owner shall ensure that the vessel is prepared and ready for launch and shall further ensure that the vessel is checked for integrity and safety as soon as it is put afloat. The Owner must confirm by receipt of a signed Authority to Relaunch form that the vessel is entirely river worthy and safe to be launched and is ready for these services with all opening (seacocks/logs) below the waterline secure and watertight. 
  24. Vessels stored ashore will be launched or put afloat in such sequence as to avoid moving other vessels for this purpose and also so as to make the most economical use of the facilities at the Company’s disposal at the Owner’s request, the Company will, if possible, launch his vessel but the cost of moving other vessels for this purpose and / or any attendant expenses must be paid for by the Owner. The basis of such charges is available to the Owner on request.
  25. Any customer or contractor wishing to enter the ‘crane area’ must first obtain permission from a member of Bray Craning Ltd staff and wear a hard hat and high visibility jacket at all times.
 
 BOATS  STORED  ASHORE
  • No person may remain on board a craft being lifted or moved by boatyard equipment.  Staying on board overnight whilst the vessel is chocked is STRICTLY  PROHIBITED.
  • Pressure Washing whilst the vessel is chocked is STRICTLY  PROHIBITED.
  • Persons nominated as banksman are always to direct all operations involving all boatyard equipment.
  • When boats have been “blocked off” by Bray Craning employees, only Bray Craning employees are permitted to move the boat stands, wedges or blocks.  If you require assistance, please ask.
  • Engines must not be run whilst the vessels are ashore, due to possible movement in cradle or boat stands caused by vibration.
  • When antifouling, sanding or scraping off antifoul, all persons must wear protective clothing including face masks, gloves and eye protection.  All residue and any paint spilt on the ground must be removed and placed in waste disposal bins provided.
  • Whilst boats are being lifted/launched/held in slings for scrubbing or other purposes, Owners are required to keep clear of the work area when requested to do so by Bray Craning Staff and only approach the work area when permitted and then only  if wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Do not drop or throw anything off a boat and make sure halyards, rigging and covers are taut and are not attached to boats stands, chocks or wedges.  Extreme care should be exercised when personnel are under boats and no person is permitted to go under a suspended vessel.  
  • Please contact a member of staff before connecting to any electricity supply (supply of electricity is subject to availability).
  • Whilst boats are on hardstanding, ladders used for access should not be secured to any blocks or boat stands and are to be removed from boats and securely stored when not in use to prevent unauthorised use or access.
  • Parking on the main hardstanding is not permitted.  Trolleys are provided to aid transporting your possessions to and from.  In other areas and where possible, cars should be parked away from boats supported by boat stands and extreme care should be exercised when manoeuvring vehicles in boatyards.
 
FLAMMABLE  SUBSTANCES
  • Whilst boats are stored ashore, petrol in portable containers and all other flammable substances, including gas cylinders, should be removed from the boat and the premises.
 
CONTRACTORS
  • Any contractor working on a boat must be registered by MDL in accordance with its current policy.
  • Welding, brazing, grinding and other “Hot Operations” must be performed by trained and qualified persons registered by MDL and operating under MDL’s permit to work system.
 
POLYURETHANE  PAINTS
  • It is important to read the instructions printed on the tin.  When sprayed, this product is extremely hazardous to health.
  • “2 Part” Polyurethane paints contain cyanates that are hazardous to health and may only be used in accordance with the manufacturers’ recommendations. Spraying may only take place in properly ventilated spray shops approved by the Environmental Health Officer and Bray Craning Ltd.
 
SHOT  BLASTING
  • Shot blasting is STRICTLY  PROHIBITED.
